Hi,
Please review'n'merge this kernel bump into stable and devel, which will
close ticket #8249. This has to be done relatively soon since the
current kernel we install will be removed in about four days (~2014-11-16).
A notable change in this kernel upgrade is that the -486 packages are
renamed -586 (and indeed do no run on true 486 any more). To keep the
consistency on our side we may want to do the following:
sed 's/486/586/g' config/binary_local-hooks/20-syslinux_detect_cpu
but it isn't necessary [1] so I have refrained from doing it since
renaming the syslinux menu file feels a bit risky for a point-release
(perhaps it'll mess up IUK upgrades, the Tails installer or something?).
I know that intrigeri, who usually does these kind of reviews, is very
busy with other things, so could either of you, Alan and bertagaz
(explicitly Cc:ed), take this one?
Cheers!
[1] live-build will still name the two kernels appropriately for us,
i.e. the -586 kernel becomes vmlinuz like the -486 one was named, and
-amd64 remains vmlinuz2.
