Hi,
we finally might have fixed #6460 ("Fix memory wipe with recent
kernel"), and the tentative fix has made its way into our
devel branch.
We need to see this tested on a wide range of hardware.
How to test:
0. Pick a computer
1. Boot Tails 0.22.1
3. Click "Shutdown immediately"
4. Take notes of what happens: does the system reboot, or successfully
halts? Any indication that the memory wipe has happened?
5. Boot a Tails ISO built from current devel branch, ideally off the
same device, at least from the same kind of device (USB vs. DVD):
http://nightly.tails.boum.org/build_Tails_ISO_devel/
6. Click "Shutdown immediately"
7. Take notes of what happens, same as #4.
8. Send a WhisperBack bug report containing the debugging info, and:
- the notes you've taken at step #4
- the notes you've taken at step #7
- the ISO filename used at #5, or commit id if you've built it
yourself
I'm interesting in knowing if things are better on most hardware,
and I'm *very* interesting in learning if things are *still* broken on
some hardware.
Thanks in advance!
Cheers,
