I've just read the timeline and last IRC meeting logs.
I disagree with "merge everything into single huge widget" bertagaz
suggested. Please don't do it unless we reach an agreement on it.
Background: we made a few decisions about tails-greeter appearance in
June, see todo/windows_theme.
To sum up, the tails-greeter *initial* screen should look like a
simple Windows logon screen, starting with a simple NT4 -like one.
The language/keyboard widgets therefore must not take too much room,
and not be too obvious from over the shoulder. That's why I've been
suggesting a small, gdm-simple-greeter -like bottom panel for a while,
i.e. a dedicated window like it currently is, but designed in a way
to use less screen estate.
Same for "add TAILS logo", which conflicts with the "raise less
suspicion" goal. Unfortunately.
