The Ball in the Hole
Una Installazione Interattiva di Kysucix e Xname
La palla nel buco e' un gioco facile e divertente.
Con una semplice pallina luminosa puoi bucare la tua
immagine
proiettata e
vedere chi (o che cosa) c'e' attraverso.
Cancellando te stesso potrai rivelare e comprendere
l'Altro.
La persona dietro al buco apparira' per scomparire
ancora, in un
movimento
incessante e reversibile. L'enfasi e' sulla linea che
separa e collega
il
mondo visivo e quello concreto. La palla e il buco.
La persona, muovendosi, scompare.
'The Ball in the Hole' e' una
installazione/performance in cui lo
spettatore
diventa attore e protagonista della metamorfosi.
La ricerca del Se' ed il leggendario varco su altre
dimensioni sono qui
ricreati tramite un ambiente tattile e digitale, uno
specchio che
risponde in
tempo reale.
La tensione tra io e non-io e' deformazione, forza
costante che lo
spettatore
puo' imprimere alla propria rappresentazione virtuale.
L'immagine diventa fragile e mostra il suo valore
temporaneo.
'La palla nel Buco' e' un loop, una spirale, un
percorso reiterato mai
uguale
a se stesso. Dietro al reale si svela altra realta',
fragile e caduca
quanto
il suo simulacro.
Questa installazione e' un prodotto artigianale di
net-art basato sulla
streaming engine di Cimiano e rilasciato con licenza
GNU/GPL.

Kysucix e Xname amano la pratica dello stream, l'arte
ubiqua e
dislocata, la
riflessione giocosa su temi profondi.
Entrambi nati a Milano, gli autori hanno una
formazione simmetrica ed
inversa.
Kysucix, background scientifico, si avvicina
progressivamente alla
media arte,
interpretando l'informatica come estetica e
comunicazione.
Xname, educata alle arti visive, laureata in semiotica
al Dams di
Bologna ed
ora residente ad Amsterdam, studia programmazione
sognando di inventare
codice
dalla prospettiva fantastico immaginifica.
Kysucix, programmatore ed hacker, fa delle tecnologie
libere una scelta
etica
e consapevole.Recentemente affascinato dalla magia del
video, si
diverte a
creare strumenti per poterne abusare.
Xname, artista e performer, si muove, da diversi anni,
in quello spazio
ibrido
tra arte e codice, audio e video, elettronica ed
informatica.
La sua espressione, attraversando diversi linguaggi,
avviene sempre in
tempo
reale, e l'opera, generativa ed in continua
trasformazione, si
manifesta
quando lo spettatore e/o l'autore ne sono immersi.

inaspettata bolletta dell'acqua. Il ricavato andra' a

The Ball in the Hole
An Interactive Installation by Kysucix & Xname
The ball in the hole is easy and fun.
Using a colorful ball you can delete your projected
image to see what
(or who)
is in the hole.
You'll enter a journey where you can understand and
reveal the other
through
the erasure of the self. The person behind the hole
will appear to
disappear
again. The emphasis is on the line separating and
connecting the visual
to the
concrete world. The ball and the hole. The person's
movement is his
deletion.
The ball in the hole is a social
installation/performance where the
user
becomes the actor of metamorphosis. The discovery of
the self and the
legendary mirror to other dimensions is experienced
through a real-time
tactile digital environment.
The Alter is someone else, and the deformation shown
is a constant
force that
the user can apply to his virtual figure.
The image becomes fragile and shows its temporary
value. The reflection
of
identity, reality and representation becomes a
playful, intimate and
dislocated game of drawing and deleting limits and
borders.
This installation is an handicraft net-art product
based on Cimiano
streaming
engine and released under a GNU/GPL License.

AUTHORS
Xname a.k.a. Eleonora Oreggia
A/V artist born in Milan. She graduated with honors in
Semiotics of
Animation
at University of Bologna. Since September 2003 she has
been based in
Amsterdam, where she worked in the Netherlands Media
Art Institute and
collaborated on projects like spring-alpha, ASCII,
dyne.org and
Streamtime.
Combining programming, electronic music and visual
culture, she creates
audio-visual real-time performances and interactive
site-specific
installations to play with illusion, identity and
metamorphosis.
Kysucix a.k.a. Silvano Galliani
Kysucix, programmer and hacker, uses free tecnologies
as and ethical
and
technical choice. Recently facinated by the magic of
the multimedia, he
gets
fun either in creating tecnology to modify it and
either in using and
abusing it.
He's researching in video streaming infrastructures
using free software
and
open codecs and in human computer interaction and
currently he's
finishing his
degree in computer science in Milan.
