*NATO kills me*
We, Women in Black Madrid, salute the women peace activists, the sisters
who defend human rights, the anti-militarists who seek real social change,
the feminists who challenge the status quo with imagination and courage,
and all those who resist the power of weapons and militarization for they
are already creating another possible world.
We offer this brief piece specifically addressing NATO and the harm it
inflicts upon us, women, from the perspective we deem appropriate: by
exposing the destructive policies of our governments. We are holding
accountable those who claim to represent us but do not by highlighting the
militaristic complicity of those who act in our name.
We are against all wars and all forms of militarism, regardless of their
origin, and we invite all people who support peace to take a stand against
the tools of war used by our governments.
This ten-point manifesto entitled “NATO is killing me” is an open text so
that women’s groups are free to adapt and rework in their own name and in
their own words.
We encourage you to share it widely.

*NATO is killing me*
*10 reasons to get NATO out of our lives:*
1.- NATO is killing me. In line with the feminist slogan: if they kill one
of us, they kill us all. In solidarity with women suffering under armed
conflict, I denounce the violence and humiliation perpetrated by those who
claim to represent me.
2.- NATO kills my humanity by saying it’s acting in my name. NATO does not
represent me.
3.- NATO kills my conscience and my principles when it invents enemies who
are not my enemies.
4.- NATO destroys the values and rights won for future generations. As an
instigator of wars, NATO destroys entire generations.
5.- NATO destroys my dignity; it treats women’s bodies as just another
territory to be conquered, using them as instruments of humiliation, and
rapes women’s bodies to carry out ethnic cleansing.
6.- NATO denies access to essential resources for millions of women. NATO
props up Western colonialism.
7. - NATO is killing humanitarian scientific research, the civilian sector,
fair trade, and women’s sustainable production systems.
8. - NATO is killing me by depriving me of the resources needed for
housing, healthcare, decent work, education and food security.
9. - NATO is destroying the environment, the future of my descendants, and
the habitable world of all humanity.
10.- NATO is stifling my civil and nonviolent political action, depriving
me of a voice in conflict resolution.
LET’S GET NATO OUT OF OUR LIVES
