Hello dear translators,

First of all, many thanks for your contributions to Tails! Having our
operating system available in a variety of language is essential to
increase its impact and it means a lot to us that such work is made by
volunteers.

As you may have heard, Tails is merging with the Tor Project. To know
more about the merge, you can read our joint statement[1]. While this
means that there are a lot of organisational changes, we do remain
committed to our mission to empower people worldwide by giving out an
operating system that protects against surveillance and censorship. We
hope you will also continue to contribute with translation efforts and
help keep Tails accessible outside of the anglosphere.

In the short term, we will continue to use the same Weblate platform[2]
and mailing list[3] for all the translation work. On the longer term,
parts of our technical infrastructure may also merge with Tor's infra
and there may be some organisational changes affecting translation work,
but we will keep you posted if any of these changes will affect you.

Since volunteering for Tails de facto now also makes you Tor volunteers,
we invite you to subscribe to the tor-project[4] and tor-l10n[5] mailing
lists to stay up to date with what's happening inside the Tor Project
and the translation community of Tor, respectively.

There's also an IRC channel dedicated to Tor translations (#tor-l10n at
OFTC, see [6] for help with connecting) which is also bridged on
Matrix[7] in case you prefer.

Many thanks to you all!
The former Tails board
