Per la statistica pubblica bene comune
Le lavoratrici e i lavoratori dell’Istat sono in stato di agitazione contro l'art.28 del decreto-legge n. 36 del 30 aprile 2022 che autorizza la costituzione della società 3-I S.p.A da parte di INPS, INAIL e ISTAT, che avrà il compito di sviluppare, manutenere e gestire soluzioni software e servizi informatici, aprendo le porte all’esternalizzazione delle funzioni informatiche dell’Istat. Siamo molto preoccupati per l’impatto che avrà sull’organizzazione, l’autonomia e la credibilità dell’Istituto Nazionale di Statistica, la protezione dei dati raccolti da cittadini ed imprese e la spesa pubblica. Come lavoratrici e lavoratori dell'ISTAT, per questo motivo, siamo in mobilitazione permanente.

In defence of Official Statistics as common goods
T he workers of the Italian National Institute of Statistics (Istat) are convened in permanent assembly since May 24. We are protesting against article 28 of Decree-law 36/2022, which envisages the externalisation of Istat's I T functions. These are core functions of the statistical production process, strictly intertwined with data gathering, elaboration and dissemination activities. Independent, high-quality and timely statistics are inconceivable without full control of IT and strict collaboration relationships with IT experts aiming at the same results as statisticians . Similary, protection and appropriate use of microdata will be harder to guarantee in a private/external data management setting. We are deeply worried about the impacts of our Institute's credibility, autonomy and efficiency. For these reasons, we are trying to bring trasparency in the process and taking action at all levels, in defence of Official Statistics as common goods in full control of the National Statistical System.
