I would like to propose a talk about our experience as persons working
with digital/physical/holistic security in Brazil in the wake of
Bolsonaro's election. The idea is that the talk, by telling the
experience we had in Brazil, can invite others to talk about their
experiences around reacting to emergencies and sudden changes of context and
we can learn from each other and, hopefully be better prepared for the
ongoing and ever incoming crises.

EN: With Bolsonaro's victory in the 2018 elections becoming more
and more likely, panic takes over activists and social movements
in Brazil. Overnight, collectives that have been working with Security
Culture, digital security, digital rights and physical security for years
are flooded with requests for quick and dirty solutions to shield movements
from the ensuing repression. What to do? How to seize this opportunity while
knowing that deep down security culture takes time to build? While knowing
that there is one solution fits all in this case? The idea is to talk about
what were the solutions we came up with, what worked and what didn't,
in the hopes that this experience helps us navigate new challenges ahead of us:
elections in Italy (Sept 21), elections in Brazil (Sept 21), and all of the
overlapping crisis we are experiencing.
IT: Con la vittoria di Bolsonaro alle elezioni del 2018 sempre più
probabile, il panico si impadronisce di attivisti e movimenti sociali
in Brasile. Nel giro di una notte, i collettivi che da anni lavorano con
la cultura della sicurezza, sicurezza digitale, diritti digitali e sicurezza
fisica sono stati inondati di richieste di soluzioni rapide per proteggere
i movimenti dalla repressione prevista. Cosa fare? Come cogliere questa
opportunità pur sapendo che in fondo la cultura della sicurezza richiede
tempo per essere costruita? Pur sapendo che in questo caso non c'è
una soluzione che vada bene per tutti? L'idea è di parlare di quali sono state
le soluzioni che abbiamo trovato, cosa ha funzionato e cosa no, nella speranza
che questa esperienza ci aiuti ad affrontare le nuove sfide che ci attendono:
le elezioni in Italia (21 settembre), le elezioni in Brasile (21 settembre) e
tutte le crisi che si stanno sovrapponendo.
