I Bullettin Board Systems (BBS) erano, allora, una sorta di via di mezzo
tra un portale sul web ed un blog: erano inseriti in dei network che
permettevano di far circolare le comunicazioni online in tutto il mondo
tramite la rete telefonica ed il modem.
La BBS fu presentata per la prima volta in una galleria d'arte (come
opera) a luglio del 1991 all'interno della mostra internazionale /*Anni
'90 */alla Galleria d'Arte Moderna di Bologna curata da Renato Barilli:

Il termine "*/Hacker Art/*" fu iniziato ad essere usato da Tommaso Tozzi
all'inizio del 1989.
L'annuncio che entro il 1990 la BBS sarebbe stata messa online fu fatto
circolare da Tommaso Tozzi in circuiti underground, attivisti ed
artistici dalla primavera del 1990 e la sua pubblicità fu promossa da
Tozzi attraverso un cartoncino e dei comunicati che Tozzi diffuse in
Italia e all'estero (in particolar modo a New York durante un viaggio
che fece a novembre del 1990).
Nel tempo la BBS si collegò a una dozzina di network nazionali ed
internazionali, contenendo diverse centinaia di forum per la libera
comunicazione, oltre che diverse aree files e modalità di interazione
online.
Hacker Art BBS è stata dall'inizio del 1991 il nodo fiorentino
dell'*/European Counter Network/* (ECN), ha ospitato fin dalla sua
nascita a marzo del 1991 il primo forum */Cyberpunk /*italiano ed è
stata il secondo nodo della nascente rete italiana */Cybernet /*a
gennaio del 1993.

Nel 1994 ad *Hacker Art BBS* si è affiancata *Virtual Town TV*, una BBS
rinnovata con un nuovo stile grafico e gestita insieme al gruppo /Strano

Nel 2000 la BBS è stata chiusa ed è stato aperto il sito
http://www.hackerart.org
che però ha contenuti molto differenti da quelli della BBS originaria e
non permette l'interazione che la BBS permetteva nei suoi dieci anni di
vita.

The Bullettin Board Systems (BBS) were, at that time, a sort of middle
way between a web portal and a blog: they were part of networks that
allowed online communications to circulate around the world via the
telephone network and the modem. .
The BBS was presented for the first time in an art gallery (as a work)
in July 1991 within the /*Anni '90*/ international exhibition at the
Galleria d'Arte Moderna in Bologna curated by Renato Barilli:

The term "*/Hacker Art/*" was started to be used by Tommaso Tozzi in
early 1989.
The announcement that by 1990 the BBS would be put online was circulated
by Tommaso Tozzi in underground, activist and artistic circuits since
the spring of 1990 and its advertising was promoted by Tozzi through a
card and the press releases that Tozzi disseminated in Italy and abroad
(especially in New York during a trip he made in November 1990).
Over time, the BBS connected to a dozen national and international
networks, containing several hundred forums for free communication, as
well as various file areas and online interaction methods.
Hacker Art BBS has been the Florentine node of the *European Counter
Network* (ECN) since the beginning of 1991, it hosted the first Italian
*Cyberpunk *forum since its birth in March 1991 and was the second node
of the nascent Italian *Cybernet *network in January of 1993.

In 1994 *Hacker Art BBS* was joined by *Virtual Town TV*, a BBS renewed
with a new graphic style and managed together with the Strano Network
group of Florence:

In 2000 the BBS was closed and the site opened

which, however, has very different contents from those of the original
BBS and does not allow the interaction that the BBS allowed in its ten
