Thanks a lot for the comprehensive summary!

This sounds like a serious issue. I share your concern regarding losing
users (and good donors). So I think we should avoid removing Electrum
without at least documenting a workaround.

I would be willing to spend some hours on helping with this. I could
start with looking into whether it's feasible to ship the AppImage.

Other ideas: Could one of our Debian Maintainers sponsor a Electrum
3.3.2 upload? Or could we package and upload it to our own repositories
until it's updated in Debian?
