Hi,
yesterday found your Tails 3.12 beta for testing the new system for tails
installation.
GREAT!
it is a far better and faster method of installing Tails on a USB and using
it.
However, I have a problem and had to use a way around the problem to get
Tails 3.12 working.
- download Tails3.12 beta on old computer, OK
(computer DIY, Intel Pentium4, 3.2 GHz * 2; O.S. Ubuntu 16.04 LTS ;13 yrs
old)
- write to USB (Kingston, DataTraveler 8GB) , OK
- re-starting Tails: no go: problem acc. error message is that my computer
is 32 bit while Tails 3.12 needs a 64bit system.
- changed to my notebook (Acer Aspire 4741G, Intel i5-460M; GPU Nvidia
Geforce GT420M) using same USB
- starting OK,
- But it resulted in a complete black screen, not even the mouse pointer
shown. [I have this problem also with former versions of Tails for some
years]; remedy:
- starting Tails on "Troubleshooting Mode" and it all worked fine. !!!
Still I don't know what the difference is in running troublesh. mode or
normal, as it looks like Tails3.12 is doing everything normal.
I used Tails3.12 a little with :
- Tor Browser, visiting some sites, used link to next page , OK
- Made a persistent volume on USB stick , OK
- Explored the HDD on my notebook, could see all files, and copy/pasted a
small file to persistent volume, OK
- run Synaptic
- downloaded a small program Galculator; downloading , installing and
running this program OK
- did some changes in settings, OK
all in all a nice new method for installing Tails. that is far easier and
faster than before.
But I had to use "my" way around a problem to get Tails3.12 properly working
