Good news! The Nouveau drivers correct the boot at full brightness problem on my Lenovo T410 laptop. I otherwise encounter no problems with the following iso on either my laptop or AMD APU based Fitlet desktop system.
ISO tested: tails-amd64-bugfix_15116-newer-nouveau-xorg-driver-3.9-20180616T0441Z-dd62b205fa+devel@???
Results on both systems:
w/o optional boot parameter: very smooth desktop graphics, fast, smooth scrolling and video playback
w/ nouveau.modeset=0: no effect, except scrolling slightly slower than above
w/ nouveau.noaccel=1: no effect
Desktop system tested:
$ lspci -d::0300 -nn
00:01.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Mullins [Radeon R3E Graphics] [1002:9854] (rev 02)
Laptop system tested:
$ lspci -d::0300 -nn
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:0046] (rev 02)
My take? Yes. Please. The Nouveau drivers solve the persistent boot at full brightness problem, do not hurt and may well help video performance on both of my systems.
