Hi! (sorry for the long message, but it's an attempt to clarify and fix
the process :)

Thanks, mrsf, for bringing that, and I'm sorry that in my previous email
I did not correctly account for your contribution attempts. I had
mentioned that a couple of people expressed will to contribute via git
and that that did not happen. That assertion of mine was not completelly
true.

There were indeed a couple of attempts to contribute via git that were
not handled. I cannot recall exactly how many times this happened
because the list has no archive and I didn't keep the full history of
the list. But i do recall there were a couple of attempts and i did find
in my archive attempts to contribute from mrsf from May and June 2017.

Maybe some context can help clarify why this happened:

- i started contributing with tails translations in 2012, and at that
time there were a couple of people interested in helping but i was the
only one more comfortable with git. At that point we wrote the
instructions on how to contribute using git taking into account one
possible workflow and the interaction with a couple of people that
were willing to learn git and help. That workflow was unfortunatelly
never reviewed or actually used, and stayed there as an unsuccesful
proposal (as i see it, as i did the proposal).

- since then, during many years people joined the list and seem to have
not overcome the technical barrier for contribution. During these
years some things changed: some people stopped attempting to
contribute, some git repos that were previously used in the proposed
workflow were taken down, and the git workflow proposal was never
adopted or revisited.

- in March 2017 i got to know about the weblate initiative and sent an
email to the list saying that we could have a wiki page to organize,
that weblate would be happening at some point, and proposing to
reorganize the git workflow. At that point, 2 people answered that
weblate would be great but no discussion about the git workflow was
made.

- the contribution attempts from mrsf using git were made after all
that, in a moment i was personally not watching the list.
Unfortunatelly, I did not notice and/or welcome the new contributions
via git after 5 years of expectating that to happen. I'm sorry for
that and i hope we can fix it. :)

I just wanted to make it clear that the process of pt-br translation
attempts has been long and many times unfruitful. But I see that we are
in another moment now and I think we can reorganize the team and get to
a working workflow.

I suggest we pick it up from here and move the discussion to the
tails-l10n-pt-br list to see how we can establish a working
tranlation-review workflow.

Makes sense?
