*O QUE É*
O MAPA é um projeto de informação crítica que edita, trimestralmente, o
jornal MAPA *em papel* e anima o *site* *jornalmapa.pt

http://jornalmapa.pt/>*. Foi fundado em 2012 e desde então publicou 18
edições, tendo começado com apenas 16 páginas e chegando hoje às 48.
Notícias, reportagens, ilustrações, factos e opiniões, a partir de uma
perspetiva livre e, portanto, longe da esfera de influência de partidos
políticos ou grupos económicos de qualquer cor ou sabor. O MAPA propõe nas
suas páginas o desenvolvimento da crítica enquanto alimento e incentivo do
pensamento e de práticas de autonomia e liberdade em todos os aspetos da
vida. Um jornal gerado a partir de um coletivo de diversidade libertária,
que vê na informação uma ferramenta para a transformação social, e num
projeto de informação a criação de uma alternativa consistente aos espaços
informativos dominantes em Portugal, ligados, na sua maioria, a grandes
interesses políticos e as grandes corporações de *media.*
O MAPA é *uma ferramenta na divulgação das ideias e dos debates que se
desenvolvem em torno de lutas sociais, ambientais e económicas, *que nascem
na sociedade portuguesa e no resto do mundo.
Nas suas páginas têm presença habitual temas estruturantes da atualidade,
como as transformações e os processos destrutivos do território rural e
natural, as implicações ecológicas e sociais dos modelos de
desenvolvimento, como o energético e alimentar, impostos aos habitantes
deste planeta, a violência policial, o controlo do Estado sobre os
cidadãos, as cidades e o espaço urbano. O MAPA é um canal de comunicação
mas também um território de resistência em tempos de guerra.
*COMO FUNCIONA*
O projeto é pensado e gerido por um coletivo editorial que se organiza de
forma horizontal e através da *Associação Mapa Crítico*, onde o uso dos
recursos *online* são essenciais dada a dispersão geográfica dos seus
elementos. É em assembleia que são tomadas as decisões sobre o que publicar
e como organizar as edições e toda a estrutura. No MAPA o trabalho é
*voluntário*, seja ao nível das colaborações, como a escrita de artigos,
ilustração, fotografia e *design*, seja ao nível da distribuição e a gestão
do projeto em papel e na web. O coletivo segue também um modelo aberto em
que propostas podem ser apresentadas vindas de leitores, da sua comunidade
de apoiantes ou do público em geral.
*DO QUE PRECISAMOS*
O financiamento provém maioritariamente do sistema de assinaturas, de
donativos e, numa parte mais reduzida, da venda direta de exemplares.
Devido ao crescimento da sua estrutura (aumento do numero de colaboradores
e da rede de distribuição) existe uma necessidade crescente de recursos e
concretamente, de dinheiro. Após cinco anos, a conclusão é de que
necessitamos de uma base sólida e permanente de financiamento para fazer
face a este crescimento e à necessidade de continuar por muitos mais anos a
publicar informação crítica.
Para fazer frente ao ano de 2018 necessitamos de 6000€. Estes custos,
abaixo dos custos reais do projeto, são o limite inferior que garante a
nossa sobrevivência e nos permitem planear, de forma confortável e segura,
o futuro económico do projeto sem interromper a publicação do jornal.

*WHAT IS IT*
MAPA is a project of critical information that publishes the quarterly
print newspaper MAPA and feeds the website *jornalmapa.pt

http://jornalmapa.pt/>*. It was founded in 2012 and has since then
published 18 issues and grown from 16 to 48 pages.
News, reports, illustration, facts and opinions, from a free perspective
and, therefore, away from the influence of political parties or economic
groups of any color or flavor. MAPA proposes through its pages the
development of critique as food for thought and for practices of autonomy
and freedom in all the dimensions of life. A newspaper engendered by an
anarchist collective, who sees information as a tool for social
transformation, forging a consistent alternative to the mainstream
Portuguese media, most of them dependent on political interests and giant
media corporations.
MAPA is a *tool for the dissemination of ideas and debates around social,
environmental and economic struggles* uprising in the Portuguese society
and in the rest of the world.
In its pages you can regularly find contemporary pungent themes like the
transformations and destructive processes in course in the natural and
rural territories; the ecological and social implications of current
development models, like the energetic or the dietary model, imposed onto
the inhabitants of this planet; police brutality, the control of the State
over its citizens, cities and urban space. MAPA is a means of communication
mas also a territory for resistance in times of war.
*HOW DOES IT WORK*
The project is thought and managed by an editorial collective that
organizes horizontally through the *Associação Mapa Crítico* (Critical MAPA
Association), and where the use of online resources is essential because of
the geographic dispersion of its elements. Decisions about what to publish
and how to organize each issue, as well as the whole structure, are made in
assembly. All work is *voluntary, *whether consisting of collaborations,
like producing articles, illustration, photography or design, whether in
distributing the newspaper or managing the project, both on paper and
online. The collective follows an open model through which proposals can be
brought to us by readers, subscribers or any interested member of our
general audience.
*WHAT SUPPORT DO WE NEED*
Funding mostly comes from our subscription system, donations and, in a
smaller portion, the direct sale of newspapers. Due to the growth of our
structure (more collaborators and larger distribution network) there is a
growing need of resources and, especially, money. After five years, we have
concluded that we need a solid and permanent funding base to face the
growth and to continue publishing critical information for many more years.
To face 2018, we need 6000€. These costs, below the real costs of the
project, are the minimum threshold for our survival and enables us to plan,
comfortably and safely, the economic future of our project without
interrupting the newspaper printing.
