Hi Cody,

Thanks for the quick reply, much appreciated :-)

I wonder if there are detailed instructions somewhere, maybe with screenshots ? For instance I'm not sure if I'm supposed to provide a password, should the nick I pick be autoregistered ? It is recommended to use TLS/SSL but the closest approximation I found is "use encryption if available" in the "Advanced" tab. And pidgin only shows "Unable to connect" in the GUI which is not much help to debug the situation ;-)

I already have a dachary@??? account and using it daily. I added the conference.riseup.net (as shown in the screenshot http://dachary.org/loic/a.png)
and when I try to connect (as shown in the screenshot http://dachary.org/loic/b.png) it says "Host Unknown" (but I also got Unable to connect). The hostname resolves ok on my laptop.

$ getent hosts conference.riseup.net
198.252.153.234 xmpp.riseup.net conference.riseup.net

It feels like I'm doing something *completely* wrong :-)

Cheers
