I don't think that anybody spoke up publicly about that yet but since
July our boot stats were decreasing:
2017-06 23189 +3.6%
2017-07 22276 -3.9%
2017-08 21754 -2.3%
2017-09 21735 -0.1%
Thankfully, the increased again in October:
2017-10 22036 +1.4%

Here the decrease occurred right after 3.0 which is the first version
incompatible with 32-bit processors. In #8183 we estimated the
percentage of affected computers to be around 7% which pretty much
corresponds to the decrease between 2017-07 and 2017-06, -6.3%.
So far so good :)
NB: Our user base multiplied by 10 in 5 years, yeah!
