I'm not sure I'm understanding this right. It seems you're following
instructions meant for Tails 3.0~rc1, but with Tails 2.12. The Tails
2.x series will be obsolete in 10-15 days from now, so let's focus on
the 3.0 series, OK? So please retry with Tails 3.0~rc1, and then
report back:

* What exactly fails? (version of Tails, boot parameters, what's happening)

* What exactly works? (version of Tails, boot parameters, what's happening)
