Hola,
us sona el terme "Palantir"? En cas de que no hagueu vist cap de les
pel·lícules de "El Señor de los Anillos" (o no us en recordeu), us ajudo
a fer memòria: és l'objecte que Sauron li va donar al mag Saruman per
corrompre'l. El Palantir és una bola de vidre negre que permet observar
(des de la distància) l'activitat de qualsevol persona o grup. Es pot
utilitzar per l'espionatge o per anticipar moviments dels exèrcits
contraris.
Fins aquí el (necessari) frikisme introductori. Ara us vull parlar de
"Palantir Technologies", una startup creada per un tal Peter Thiel, que
ara forma part de l'equip presidencial del president electe Donald Trump
(de fet, sembla que va ser el principal partidari de Trump a Silicon
Valley). Palantir Technologies desenvolupa software d'anàlisi de Big
Data per investigar connexions entre persones i esdeveniments concrets
(que abans romanien amagades) i, naturalment, té entre els seus
principals clients la CIA, el FBI i la NSA:
"Palantir’s data analysis solution targets three industries: government,
the finance sector and legal research. Each of these industries must
wrestle with massive sets of data. To do this, Palantir’s toolsets are
aimed at massive data caches, allowing litigators and the police to make
connections otherwise invisible (...).

Pel que sembla, Palantir s'està convertint en la referència a nivell
mundial pel que fa a qüestions de vigilància i de monitorització
d'"amenaces". Aquí s'especula amb la idea que el "registre de musulmans"
que Trump va proposar en el seu moment... Ja podria existir (i
l'estigués administrant Palantir):
