This is true but there are other cases, such as walking away from the
system but keeping it in plain sight; a coffee shop.
Screensavers work well for this, too.

Yes. I saw the ticket suggesting this, it dead-ended with the
quickness.
It seems that once *a* theme is ported to Jessie, the theme can be
copied and the images/icons replaced with other relevant system
images/icons.
