"interfaces" in there has to be understood in its broader meaning (as
opposed to e.g. network interfaces or application programming
interfaces). Let's say it means "A boundary across which two systems
communicate", as the The Free On-line Dictionary of Computing (18
March 2015) puts it. Clearer?
