Just a remark from my side. These switches are widely used on iOS and
Android devices, see
https://i.stack.imgur.com/JcUDf.png for use on iPhone for example.
and on the latest Android it looks like this :
https://i.stack.imgur.com/SZoLM.jpg. On older Android versions they were
just square, not so fancy.

On Jessie's Gnome I have also spotted some in the system parameters.

I actually am pretty much in favour of those switches, they seem to be
widely used and understandable.

However, I have to agree that the greeter switches look a bit strange.
It's less easy to distinguish when the switch is on and when it's off.
In the iOS and Android examples, there is something where you need to
drag or click the switch and then it also changes colour. This helps
enormously in understanding that they are to be switched on and off..

Is it possible to make the greeter switches look more like this ?

Cheers
u.
