Dear Teams,

This message is in response to Emma Peel's asking about familiar   Tu     or Vd. / Usted (formal) in the comment, infra,"...I thought that the website should use the secondperson as 't?' and not 'usted' (formal) and that's how I'mtranslating the docs. In spanish language documentation in general you don't see formaltreatment like maybe in french or other languages. "

We concur; "Tu" is better. Reason: familiarity although assumed (not formally introduced and agreed to tu informalism in person) is on so many Handy / Smart  / Mobile phones   that it seems that the Tu familiar form = more appropriate in current linguistic context of modern English and Spanish.
Cheers,
Toki

I try to avoidgender but many times is impossible and it would be great to have ageneral rule. What is the policy for other languages to do it? What is the policy inenglish? I have seen different approaches in different documents.I really dislike s/he, sounds unnatural at least in Spanish. I think weshould use female pronouns when talking about users, like when we aretalking about an example user. I use also 'if a person wants to dothis, must do this other thing' (in spanish person is female, so thegender of the phrase goes in female)Spanish is that kind of language where even things have gender! Chairsand tables are female, and kitchen too, but also guns (go figure!)------------------------------Subject: Digest Footer_______________________________________________Tails-l10n mailing listTails-l10n@???https://mailman.boum.org/listinfo/tails-l10n------------------------------End of Tails-l10n Digest, Vol 31, Issue 16******************************************
