We concur; "Tu" is better. Reason: familiarity although assumed (not formally introduced and agreed to tu informalism in person) is on so many Handy / Smart  / Mobile phones   that it seems that the Tu familiar form = more appropriate in current linguistic context of modern English and Spanish.
