In portuguese, we have been using something near to the least amount of
horrible:
- prefer gender-agnostic formulations.
- when strictly needed, use something like he/she (i.e. "the user" in
portuguese would become "o/a usuário/a").
- masculin for software names, i.e. "the Tor Browser" becomes "o Tor
Browser", because "that's the natural way", i'd say. Of course, this
matter seems to be one of avoiding the natural way to become
gender-inclusive.
A conversation was started about this some months ago in pt-br list but got no
further input.
I'm happy to put forward any discussion about this subject.
