(I've committed myself to bring this discussion to a conclusion, and
I intend to nag you as many times as needed. Sorry to be insisting,
but this was supposed to be resolved last (northern-hemisphere)
summer, as part of the post-"test-suite conditional merge" promise
that was made.)
