What is at stake? *
*(PART_WEL Conference)*
che si terrà a *Pisa*, il *31 Gennaio* e l'*1 Febbraio 2013*.
Si tratta di un appuntamento di particolare valore, in quanto occasione di
confronto con numerosi studiosi italiani e stranieri su un vasto spettro di
temi che riguardano la partecipazione nel welfare.
In preparazione della Conferenza abbiamo ricevuto oltre settanta proposte
di interventi da paesi di tutto il mondo. Cinquanta di queste -selezionate
da una commissione dedicata- alimenteranno il dibattito nelle Sessioni
Tematiche della Conferenza. Si aggiungono le Sessioni Plenarie che
serviranno a introdurre i temi, a restituire i risultati delle Sessioni
Tematiche e a tracciare qualche bilancio delle ricerche sulla
partecipazione nel welfare in Italia e in Europa.
Alle Sessioni plenarie parteciperanno nomi di primo piano del dibattito
italiano ed europeo sul welfare e la partecipazione. Tra questi: *Ugo
Ascoli, Vando Borghi, Rik van Berkel, John Clarke, Laurent Fraisse, Marisol
Garcia, Yuri Kazepov, Veronica Lo Presti, Luigi Pellizzoni, Stefania
Sabatinelli, Nicoletta Stame*.
Si aggiungeranno inoltre eventi paralleli che stiamo ultimando di
organizzare.

we are very pleased to announce the *opening of the

the International Conference “*Participatory local welfare, citizenship and
third sector organizations. What is at stake?*” (PART_WEL Conference) that
will be held in Pisa (Italy), 2013, January 31st - February 1st* (Website

PART_WEL Conference provides a* *significant opportunity to discuss in an
international context about *participation* and its implications for
the* welfare
systems in times of crisis*: theories, methods and practices and
institutional designs; planning, implementation and evaluation; social
conflicts, people acting and struggling; successes and failures; etc.
The Conference will bring together scholars, policy-makers, practitioners
from all over the world* *to exchange views, practices and outcomes on the
basis of various international experiences, comparative researches and

PART_WEL Conference will be structured along 3 Plenary Sessions and 2
Thematic Sessions. Each Thematic Session will be composed by 6 Streams,
each of which will host a variable number of selected papers. The selected
papers to be presented are 50.
The plenary sessions will host keynote lectures from leading Italian and
International speakers. The list of convenors includes the professors *Ugo
Ascoli, Vando Borghi, Rik van Berkel, John Clarke,Laurent Fraisse, Marisol
Garcia, Yuri Kazepov, Veronica Lo Presti, Luigi Pellizzoni, Stefania

sessions with the aim of making the conference a thorough, cohesive and dynamic
