> The Ruhr-University Bochum (RUB) is one of Germany's leading research universities. The University draws its strengths from both the diversity and the proximity of scientific and engineering disciplines on a single, coherent campus. This highly dynamic setting enables students and researchers to work across traditional boundaries of academic subjects and faculties. The RUB is a vital institution in the Ruhr area, which has been selected as European Capital of Culture for the year 2010.
>
> The Ruhr-University Bochum - Institute for Social Movements - invites applications for the position of an Assistant Professor (W1) in "Globalization Conflicts, Work, and Social Movements" to start on 1 February 2013.
>
> W1-Professors are temporary positions of three years in the first instance. The position can be extended to another three years following a positive evaluation.
>
> The Institute for Social Movements is a central research unit of the RUB. The Institute is specialized in research and teaching on social movements in the past and present (for detailed information see http://www.isb.ruhr-uni-bochum.de).
>

> A doctoral degree of outstanding quality, preferably in the social or political sciences, is required as is a strong publication record. The doctorate shall have been obtained no longer than five years ago.
