italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian
    studies Salve,

I am a current M.M. in Musicology student at the University of
Florida interested in conducting research for my thesis in the field
of Italian social songs and resistance (in particular, la
Resistenza). I am planning to visit l'istituto Ernesto de Martino in
Sesto Fiorentino to do research in their archives this upcoming summer.

Are there other archives in Italy that are particularly relevant to
folklore, folksong, social and political history, etc.? I am
interested in social songs and their documentation/use.

Being in close proximity to Florence, are there any institutions
that would have resources for further research that might benefit
me? (And who would welcome me?)

Lastly, are there any students/scholars who might wish to do similar
archival work, or know of any accommodations that would be
    hospitable to visiting researchers?

I've found it difficult to engage in scholarship on Italian social
songs in American institutions. I would love to hear from those of
you who have been engaged in this and related studies. I hope to
eventually contribute to this field, and look forward to getting to
know some of its contemporary scholars.

Any information you may have (in italiano o inglese) would be very
    much appreciated!

    Take care,
    Jeremy Frusco
