For obscure technical reasons you probably don't want to know about,
while most of the "master" pages of the Tails website are written in
Markdown (.mdwn), some others are in HTML.
So, in this case, the right "source" is the index.html file (from
which the final index.html is compiled.)
But anyhow, mercedes508 is right: best is to copy an existing .po file
and adapt it the way he described.
