This is a brown paper bag release [1] aimed at fixing two major problems
introduced in Tails 0.12:
* Tails 0.11 worked well on your hardware, but 0.12 resulted in a black
screen during boot. Workarounds [2] could be applied to reach Tails
Greeter from the black screen state.
* Problems when setting locale (languge) and administrator password in
Tails Greeter.
We'd very much appreciate if those who experienced any of the two issues
report back in this thread whether 0.12.1-rc1 fixes them.
Everyone (including other Tails developers) are encouraged to test every
other aspect of this release. In particular, tester may want to look at
our manual test suite [3], which I'm planning to start to tackle
top-to-bottom. Any other Tails developers that want to participate may
hence want to start from the bottom or middle or something (please
report here what you plan to do). The final release of Tails 0.12.1 is
planned on Friday, so any test results and feedback should preferably be
reported here before that.
