On Friday the 23rd , there was a big demonstration against the
employers’ brutality. As you know, a cleaner syndicalist was forced to
drink acid because of her political energetic activity. The
demonstration was big, around 6000 people. Left parties –parliamental an
no-, and anarchist took part on that. It was violently repressed.
On Saturday the 24th there has been a big demonstration for solidarity
to the imprisoned people of the insurrection. It is important to mention
that despite the fact only anarchists participated there were more than
3000 people. You can grasp the political meaning of that. The riot of
December really revolutionized people who gradually began to express
their distrust towards the traditional ways of the representativity. As
you can imagine, the demonstration was violently repressed as usual.
Tones of tear gases were thrown. A girl was arrested because she was
caught writing on the wall signs against the cops. She was set free.
Early in the morning of Tuesday the 27th, bulldozers of Athens’
municipality eradicated around 50 trees to transform a park in the
center of Athens to a private garage. This decision was not only a
political nonsense but also illegal, since there has been a decision
from the forest inspection which prohibited any intervention in the few
gardens that have survived in Athens. Note that according to European
standards, Athens lacks over 10.000 acres of green in order to be
characterized a viable city. People resisted on that

Today there was a court decision that the works of “reformation” should
be stopped until the 5th of January. The place has already been
replanted.
Yesterday the opera house in the center of Athens was occupied. It is a
symbolic movement by artists to express the true form of art and its
connection with society. There are scheduled a lot of things like
theater performances, music lives, and of course discussions about the
role of art in the transformation of society. Of course, not only
artists participate on that. Or say it in another way, not only
professional artists. The popular quotation there is “Express your
hidden artist”.
As you see, the insurrection finished, but what left behind is a
radical new way of seeing ourselves as a member of the city, as members
of society. People were inspired to spend their time in politics and to
participate in the self-organization of society. This is something that
cannot be lost. The new resurrection will find us more mature, for
sure.
