*MENACE
Menace were London's first generation no-nonsense boot boys, pre-
dating Sham
69, who overtook them in terms of mass popularity, and the Cockney
Rejects.
They formed in 1976 at the Hope And Anchor in Islington when Webster
met the
other three members and were soon playing the Roxy. Their high-energy,
unpretentious sets won them few admirers in the inkies, but they swiftly
built a strong following that brought together both punks and skinheads.
They're often cited as the first to unite this potentially volatile mix.
However, there was nothing premeditated about the audience they
attracted.
"Sham were more overt in their leanings towards skinheads," Martin
told me.
"We had that crossover thing. We liked that idea."
Illegal Records and made their debut in August 1977 with 'Screwed Up'
backed
by 'Insane Society'. Charlie Harper of the UK Subs bought the very first
copy when he bumped into Martin picking up the first box of singles from
Copeland's office. It was good, honest, working class sloganeering ("If
we're
the working class/Why ain't we got jobs?") and more musically adept
than you
might imagine. Sniffing Glue trumpeted that they "are the best punk
band in
England today!" after witnessing some highly charged early shows at
venues
such as the Vortex and Hope And Anchor.
*SS - KALIERT
Ruhrpott-area, the wild-west of Germany in 2003. The Punk scene was
big, but
hardly any good local bands where around, so as a consequence & a
mixture of
boredom & frustration about that situation SS-KALIERT raised up.
After some rehearsals the first songs where written & the band played a
couple of local shows. Not long time later Wölfi, the singer of the
legendary band "Die Kassierer" heard about the young band & decided to
support them by pressing their debut - 7" titled "STAND UP & FIGHT". The
first 500 copies sold out in under three months & it had to be
repressed.
From this time on the band got bigger & found themselves on stages
all over
Europe.
In 2005 the Boston based Label FNS RECORDS contacted the band about a
4 -
track 7" which was released by FNS RECORDS in January 2006. While
that was
in process the worlds biggest street-punk label PUNKCORE RECORDS from
NYC
caught attention of the band. Teamed up with PUNK CORE, SS-KALIERT
released
their CD "DSKlation" in June. The European Labels RAZORBLADE MUSIC &
VIENEESE BLOOD repressed "DSKlation" w/ 4 live bonus tracks as a vinyl
picture LP in September 06.
The fast & aggressive but also melodic Punkrock that hits your ears
gives
with a guarantee some well deserving people a hard kick in the ass.
Without
needing to go into minute details SS-Kaliert´s hard hitting lyrics
raise a
large middle finger against everyone and everything that troubles them.
Angry vocals coupled with these hard hitting lyrics & the non
compromising
music gives the band a powerful outburst of anger.
Up until now, SS-KALIERT can look back on countless shows played on
European
soil, one 6-week long full-US Tour in summer with the Lower Class Brats,
followed by a 3-week European Tour with labelmates Action in October 06.
SS-KALIERT is not a racist, fascist, nationalist, patriotic or nazi-
band,
neither is S(SKA)LIERT a SKA band, or preach any kind of politics in
their
songs. SS-KALIERT is 120% fast & furious PUNKROCK, with no compromise in
their lyrics - NOT MORE. NOT LESS!!!
*PUBBLICO OLTRAGGIO
I "Pubblico Oltraggio" nascono nel 2001, da un'idea di Mone e
Loris(voci/chitarre), Anto(basso), Aucello(batteria). All'inizio fanno
cover, poi, con l'ingresso del cantante solista "Muccio", cominciano a
comporre pezzi propri (street-punk semplice), come "Song of the
street" o
"Sottopasso". Il loro primo concerto è all'ARCI di Arcore( con i loro
amici
'TeMato'), dove suonano 5 o 6 pezzi. Cominciano a suonare più
frequentemente
e a scrivere nuove canzoni, come "Criminal boys", "Il nostro motto",
o la
cover dei NABAT "Skin & Punk". Nello stesso anno registrano il loro
primo ed
introvabile demo "Our voice" ma, allo stesso tempo, Aucello esce dal
gruppo(rimanendo loro amico), facendo entrare "Giga" come batterista.
Durante il 2002, iniziano a comporre molti pezzi nuovi, musicalmente più
validi (street-core Oi! ispirandosi a Uk Subs, Nabat, Exploited,
Chaos UK,
Partisans etc..) e con tematiche contro la società, politica, razzismo,
polizia, maltrattamento degli animali e vivisezione...senza
dimenticare le
sbronze e la vita di tutti i giorni, come "Hate", "Animals
revenge","Nation
of cowards", "Saturday night" e "Boot down the society" che da il
titolo al
loro secondo demo "Boot down the society" appunto, una sorta di
raccolta dei
brani registrati durante fine 2003/04(con pezzi ripescati dal primo
demo).
In quegli anni il gruppo subisce un po' di cambiamenti: Anto e Muccio
se ne
vanno, facendo entrare Ivan(fratello di loris) come bassista....per poco
tempo perchè gli nasce un figlio(Sandrino). Il gruppo riprende a fare
concerti, suonando con band come "Prima linea","Frankie four fingers",
"Beers of chaos", "Figli di alex", "Banged-up" ecc.. con, al posto di
Ivan,
Fabio"Cavaddu" degli ex-WastedPunx, anche lui rimasto nei PXO per poco
tempo, lasciando il gruppo con la formazione attuale composta da tre
elementi: Loris, Mone e Giga. Attualmente il gruppo sta registrando
il loro
nuovo demo "Ready to fight".
*FIGLI DI ALEX
Il gruppo nasce come Riot Under Skin nel settembre del 2001
strimpellando
cover di gruppi Oi! e hardcore storici come Nabat, 4skins, Bloody
Riot. Dopo
vari cambi di formazione che hanno visto l'abbandono da parte del
chitarrista, il gruppo cambia nome in Figli di Alex. Nell'Agosto 2002
abbiamo registrato in presa diretta la prima demo, di qualità
pessima. Nel
dicembre dello stesso anno esce la seconda demo con 4 pezzi tratti dalla
prima per la O.P.D. Autoproduzioni, mentre nel mese di luglio 2004
abbiamo
registrato il nostro primo full-lenght dal titolo GUERRA AGLI
OPPRESSORI.
Nel corso di questi 5 anni la nostra musica ha subito variazioni,
come del
resto tutti noi, ma l'attitudine e la voglia di spaccare il culo sul
palco
resta sempre quella. L'oi! è stato un po' abbandonato nei nostri riffs,
lasciando spazio a un punk hardcore in stile Blood for Blood, Madball, e
compagnia bella! Sicuramente però quel pizzico di 4skins resterà sempre,
ormai è indelebile! Ci stiamo preparando all'uscita del nostro secondo
lavoro per la Full of Hate Records
