Tom Hurndall ucciso due volte
Ha tutto l'aspetto di una farsa ma è invece una nuova puntata, l'ennesima
puntata
della tragedia del popolo palestinese e di chi si batte per la pace e la
giustizia.
La scorsa settimana è cominciato, davanti ad una corte marziale israeliana,
il
processo contro il militare dell'esercito che nell'aprile del 2003 sparò
alla testa
di Tom Hurndall, un giovane britannico impegnato nelle attività di
interposizione
nonviolenta organizzate a difesa dei civili palestinesi nei territori
occupati.
Tom, che stava protegendo col proprio corpo alcuni bambini dai colpi dei
cecchini
dell'esercito, morì 9 mesi dopo, senza essere mai uscito dal coma.
Durante il processo, uno dei pochissimi contro le violenze israeliane in
Cisgiordania e Gaza, l'avvocato difensore del soldato israeliano ha
dichiarato che
Tom sarebbe morto non tanto per le ferite quanto per decisione dei dottori
e della
famiglia che hanno deliberatamente somministrato cure sbagliate per
provocarne la
morte.
Oltre ad esprimere sdegno per queste affermazioni incivili, vogliamo
ricordare che
la sorte di Tom è quella comune a centinaia di civili palestinesi,
soprattutto
donne, bambini e ragazzi,che ogni giorno sopravvivono alla violenza
dell'occupazione
israeliana.
Quanto avvenuto a Tom è la prova del fatto che le forze di occupazione
israeliana
non vogliono alcuna presenza internazionale nei territori occupati,
testimonianza
della continua violazione dei diritti umani; allo stesso tempo è per noi una
incitazione a continuare nel nostro impegno per dare speranza al popolo
palestinese,
per la pace e la giustizia.
Nell'esprimere la nostra profonda solidarietà alla famiglia di Tom,
invitiamo tutti
coloro che hanno a cuore la pace e la giustizia a mobilitarsi affinché la
verità non
venga occultata e affinché si moltiplichi la pressione internazionale sulle
autorità
israeliane per il ritiro di eserciti e coloni dai territori occupati della
Palestina.

Dear all, during last days an Israeli military tribunal is holding the trial
about
the murder of Tom Hurndal.
Tom was shot in the head in Rafah refugee camp, Gaza, in April 2003 whilst
trying to
move children out of the range of Israeli military sniper fire.
He was in a coma for nine months and died in January 2004.
During the trial, one of the few about the violences done by the Israeli
military
forces, the lawyer in charge of defending the soldier accused Tom's family
to
deliberately having killed him by wrong medications during his 9 months
coma.

Tom Hurndall killed twice.
It looks like a farce but it is all about the violent killing of a young
activist
for peace.
The words of the defense lawyer of the soldier that killed Tom Hurndall
(according
to the lawyer he "did not die from the wound but because the doctors,
together with
the family, made to very clear decision to end his life") these words are an
offense
to the memory of a young boy who died after nine months of coma since his
was shoot
by a sniper of the Israeli Defence Force.
Beyond expressing a strong blame and a deep sorrow for what asserted during
the
debate, we want remind that what happened to Tom is the common destiny of
hundreds
of Palestinian civilians, in particular women, child and youngsters.
We therefore invite all the civil society actors, all the political parties
to do
everything is in their possibilities so that an aberrant affirmation does
not come
never more repeated and that it can be reached to a reconstruction of the
facts.
What happened to Tom is the proof that the Israeli military occupation has
fear of
the international presence in the occupied territories of West Bank and Gaza
that
are witnessing the continuous violation of human rights; in the same time
this
brutal behavior reinforce our commitment to help the Palestinian people to
hope in a
future and to live in peace and freedom.
While expressing our deep solidarity to the family of Tom Hurndall, we
invite all
people caring of peace and justice to put in action all the possible
initiatives to
make the Israeli authorities under the international pressure to respect
human
rights and withdraw armies and settlers from the occupied territories of
Palestine.
