abbiamo ricostruito la finestra (ora saldata ad uno scheletro
d'acciaio), rifatto pavimenti, impianto elettrico ed idraulico, tavoli e
connessione wifi dal tetto, pronti a partire:)

ASCII internet werkplaats gaat weer open! Na ons korte verblijf op de
Wibautstraat hebben wij een nieuwe ruimte gevonden op de Javastraat 38.
Na bijna een maand verbouwen zijn we er helemaal klaar voor!
Vanaf komend weekend is ASCII weer open voor het publiek. We gaan verder
waar we gebleven waren, met cursussen en workshops over Open Source, Free
Software, vrije media, draadloos internet en nog veel meer.
Ook proberen we weer dagelijks van 14-19 u. open te zijn, waarbij
sommige dagen een speciaal thema zullen krijgen.
ASCII biedt al bijna zes jaar workshops, cursussen en internettoegang met
gebruik van Open Source software. ASCII is een non-budget initiatief.
Computergebruik, cursussen en workshops zijn gratis. De werkplaats draait op
vrijwilligerswerk.
Op zaterdag de 12e maart openen wij weer onze deuren. We nodigen iedereen
uit de nieuwe ruimte te komen bekijken. Tevens zal een hapje en een drankje
geserveerd worden op de opening te vieren.

After being forced out of the last space on Wibautstraat, the Amsterdam
internet-workspace ASCII is glad to announce a re-opening at a new
location. After facing threats and destruction by the self-proclaimed
renter of their new squatted space, the ASCII crew have been active for a
month to rebuild and prepare their new space for the public.
Like in the past ASCII will be open to everyone for workshops, courses,
open-source and free software support, free media projects, wireless
networking initiatives and just general access to online services for all
those who cannot find such means elsewhere.
For more than five years now, ASCII has been providing these services to
activists and the general public, for free and without subsisides, and we
will continue to do so at our new location.
On saturday the 12th of march ASCII opens the doors of this new workspace
for the first time, to invite all neighbours, friends, interested parties
and supporters for an opening event with food, drinks, music and more.
