MARCH & RALLY for AFFORDABLE HOUSING
Wednesday, Feb. 2nd
March across the Brooklyn Bridge or Meet at City Hall
Affordable housing IS a queer issue!
When the average price for a 1-bedroom apartment in
Manhattan is more than $1 million dollars,
homelessness is through the roof, and the cost of
rent is out of control, New Yorkers will march and
rally this Wednesday to demand the City and State
respond to our need for affordable housing.
As queers who often struggle for financial security,
lack familial support, job protection and government
tax breaks, this issue is of particular importance to
our community.
This Wednesday, February 2nd, there will be a
massive MARCH & RALLY for AFFORDABLE HOUSING.
A diverse coalition of organizations has come together
to address the crisis in affordable housing in our
city with 5 simple demands. If met, greater access to
affordable housing could become a reality for New
Yorkers today.
Join the LGBT contingent for affordable housing!
LOGISTICS:
To march across the Brooklyn Bridge:
Meet at 3:15 pm at the Brooklyn War Memorial on Camden
Plaza West (across from the Park Plaza restaurant).
We'll be the ones with rainbow flags and (hopefully) a
marching band. (For specific directions, see below.)
To meet us at the rally at City Hall:
Meet at 4:30 pm at Broadway and Chambers.

For those marching across the bridge,
we will meet at 3:15 at the Brooklyn War Memorial on
Cadman Plaza West opposite the Park Plaza Restaurant.
Just look for rainbow flags. (Directions below.)
If you can't march across the bridge, we will meet
you in Manhattan on the southwest corner of Chambers
and Broadway at 4:30.
Directions to Cadman Plaza:
By car from Manhattan, take first exit off Brooklyn
Bridge. Make left off the ramp. You are on Cadman
Plaza West. The observing site is about two blocks
ahead on the left, opposite the Park Plaza
Restaurant.
>From Brooklyn, Queens, or Staten Island take the
Brooklyn-Queens Expressway to the Cadman Plaza exit.
By subway:
(1) 2, 3 (7th Ave Express) Clark Street station is
located at the corner of Henry Street. Walk one block
east and two blocks north.
(2) 4, 5 (Lex Ave Express) Borough Hall station is
located at Joralemon Street and Court Street. Walk
north on Court Street (which becomes Cadman Plaza)
about seven or eight blocks.
(3) A, C (8th Ave Line) High Street station is
located at Cranberry Street and Cadman Plaza. Exit at
the rear of the train, if coming from Manhattan. Walk
one block north and cross the street.
(4) M, R (BMT) Court Street station is located at the
corner of Montague Street. Exit at the front of the
train, if coming from Manhattan. Walk north on Court
Street (which becomes Cadman Plaza) about five or six
blocks.
(5) A, C, F (8th Ave Line, Culver Line) Jay
Street--Borough Hall station, located at Jay Street
and Myrtle Avenue. Exit at the rear of the train, if
coming from Manhattan. Walk north to Tillary Street,
then west to Cadman Plaza.
