below a message from the london NG group calling for a
meeting about
the
london social forum (in October) and how to envision
and create
feminist
spaces at the london social forum. to get in contact:
nextlondon@???

------------------
Dear all,

After several discussions within our group in london,
we have decided
to
organize a meeting during the first week of july
(before dublin
conference) to discuss possible events/actions during
the social forum.

The idea is having a initial broad meeting with
different
individuals/groups to start to think about what we
would like to do
collectivally/ what other project we would like to
support/ etc

we have started contacting different groups, both
existing before the
social forum or generated around it

some of them are: queeruptionlondon, sex worker union,
kalayan (working
with migrant-domestic workers in london) activist like
gita sagal,some
academics, people from the different "parallel
proyects/social forum"
that have been getting together to plan parallel
activities (such us
autonomous space
(http://esf2004.net/en/tiki-index.php?page=AutonomousSpaceForESF2004),
creative forum
(http://esf2004.net/en/tiki-index.php?page=EuropeanCreativeForum)or
nomad project
(http://esf2004.net/en/tiki-index.php?page=NomadProject)
indymedialondon, movement4justice...

Here is the invitation to the meeting.

If any of you would like/able to come, once again, we
offer our floor
(so it was the house or just a piece of floor we
offered? we've got
some
extra mattress :) Also feel free to forward the
invitation to anyone
you may think would be interested.
we welcome any comment/suggerencias

FEMINIST SPACES AND THE LONDON ESF:
A MEETING TO DISCUSS ISSUES AND ACTIONS RELATED TO
GENDER, RACE, CLASS,
MIGRATION AND QUEER POLITICS.

MEETING: 4th July, 2:00 at LARS (London Action
Resource Centre) 62
Fieldgate St., Whitechaple, E1 1ES (www.londonarc.org)

NextGenderation is a European Network of Feminist
academics/activists
prioritizing critical analysis and community activism
on issues such as
race, migration/trafficking, sex work, sexuality and
representation.
Those of us who attended the ESF (Paris) last year
felt that:
1. The above issues were not sufficiently prioritized
in the official
forum.
2. When space for discussion for the above forum was
given, eg.
the official "Women's Day", critical, postcolonial,
and queer
perspectives
were met with hostility and the event was dominated by
middle class,
mainstream feminists.

As a result of this experience, we want to meet with
organisations and
individuals working on similar issues to discuss
perspectives of the
ESF, and to possibly organise an Event/Action
in/outside of the forum.

Possible points of discussion at the meeting include:
1. How to approach the ESF (inside/outside)?
2. Which actions/events are already being planned and
weather/how we
can support them. Do we want to collectively
organize direct
     actions/ workshops/seminars relation to issues
we're working on?

PLEASE email nextlondon@??? to confirm your
attendance and any
additions to the points of discussion. Also, please
pass on details of
this meeting to anyone who others who might be
interested in
participating.
