TYLER, Texas -- A 62-year-old Tyler man has pleaded guilty to possessing a
dangerous chemical weapon. That's after investigators found components
needed to make lethal cyanide gas in a storage facility he had rented.
William J. Krar was charged with possessing toxic sodium cyanide.
Investigators also found strong acids in his storage facility. A U.S.
Attorney's office statement says the chemicals -- when mixed with sodium
cyanide -- form extremely lethal cyanide gas.
The Tyler Morning Telegraph reports investigators also found numerous
illegal firearms and literature detailing the use of sodium cyanide to make
a chemical weapon. The investigators say they also found white supremacist
and militant literature.
Co-defendant Judith L. Bruey has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess
illegal weapons. Krar faces 9 to 11 years in prison, while Bruey faces up
to five years in prison. Both also could be fined up to $250,000.
