Care tutte,
il succo amarissimo della mail che segue è che Israele sta per espellere 500 bambine/i, donne e uomini di due comunità nella Valle del Giordano, soprattutto beduini, per lo più poveri pastori, senza elettricità e senza tubature per l’acqua o altre fonti naturali. Lo scopo di questa pulizia etnica è poter dichiarare l’area disabitata e quindi annetterla a Israele.
Chi in Israele si oppone all’Occupazione ha dato lungamente sostegno a queste comunità. Ora si appellano urgentemente a mettere in allarme chiunque possa esercitare una pressione sulle autorità israeliane, a organizzare manifestazioni vicino ai consolati e alle ambasciate di Israele, a scrivere alle e ai parlamentari, a mobilitare chi è amica/o della Palestina. E’ allegato l’ordine di evacuazione in ebraico; le 30 famiglie saranno sgomberate entro 8 giorni, restate in contatto con me (Hannah) e vi manderò gli aggiornamenti.

Avete qualche idea su che cosa potremmo fare oltre che tradurre completamente il testo e diffonderlo il più possibile? Possono le amiche romane manifestare davanti all’ambasciata israeliana? Magari già ci pensa Luisa.

Alert!! Israel is about to expel 500 Palestinian children, women and men from their homes in two communities in the Jordan Valley - Ein El Hilweh and Um Jamal, near the Maskiot settlement. The Palestinian communities - mainly Bedouins -have been under pressure to leave for a very long time. They are not connected to the electricity grid and are denied water from pipes or natural sources. They are mainly poor shepherds who live off their herds. Since the Oslo agreement they found themselves living in area C and hence under direct Israeli occupation. Israel has declared in many occasions that these areas should be annexed to Israel. This latest eviction order will help Israel declare these areas empty and enhance its claim for sovereignty.
We, Israelis who oppose the occupation have been supporting these communities for a long time. We are appealing to you urgently to alarm anyone who could exert any pressure on the Israeli authorities to withhold their eviction order. Please organize demonstrations near Israeli consulates and embassies. Write messages to congressman/women, mobilize fellow Palestinians. The attached documents are the original eviction order in Hebrew, it stipulates that these 30 families will have to evacuate within 8 days. keep in touch with me and I will update you.
