Hi,
You may have notice that
https://wiki.debian.org/BSP/2017/05/fr/Paris
requires to have a Debian Wiki account, and that creating such an
account may be too complicated as it requires sending a mail to the
admins if the mail/domain have not been whitelisted.
Moreover, as by definition the wiki edits are public, using the wiki may
not be appropriate for asking people if they need sponsorship or other
kind of sensitive information.
We were thinking about two solutions:
- Using a web based form.
- Using a private mailing list.
We have, at least, the following requirements, that the solution we
choose should meet.
- Being internationalized
- Being able to come back to people asking them more details if needed
- Being able to ask everything we need
- Being reliable
(Please complete if i miss important points).
I gave a try to https://framaforms.org/ and created a sample form

- Good points:
- Allow to have a detailed form, in order to ask everything we
need
- People can complete the form after submitting if needed.
- Possibility to export to a CSV etc to keep a list
- Bad points:
- The interface is only in French. I believe it is not a
blocking point for the form administrator. It may be for
attendees. The form itself can be internationalized but some
buttons like "submit", text fields like "your submission has
been accepted" won't be
- The possibility for people to edit their submission seems to
rely on cookies. This may cause problems, for example to tails
users who won't be able to edit their answers.
Conclusion:
While the tool could have been useful, i don't think we can fully rely
on it. If possible, I would like to have your opinion. If some of you
want to create an account on
https://framaforms.org/ I can give you
access to the backend interface. I will try to ask questions to the
developers in case some problems could easily be solved. But I believe
we will anyway need a mailing list, and that it may be better to do
everything through this list.
