I think it's a minor UX regression, that only affects systems that
tweak org/gnome/desktop/media-handling the way we do, so I'm afraid it
would not gain much traction upstream. But if someone is ready to
build a case and nicely discuss it there, I'm happy :)

IIRC this class of bugs appeared in Wheezy. They are know issues, with
quite a few bug reports upstream (udisks and util-linux), in Debian
and other distros. I've put quite some effort into fixing it,
including NMU'ing util-linux once, and gave up. Sorry about that.
