                            NEWS & EVENTS

TEATRO VALLE OCCUPATO – ECF and the ECF Princess Margriet Award jury 2014 express their solidarity and support for Teatro Valle Occupato and their Fondazione Teatro Valle Bene Comune (Foundation for the Commons) in their brave transition from a citizen-led cultural initiative to defining a new participatory model for the theatre, together with the City of Rome. We plea that they be given the opportunity to continue bringing urgent societal and cultural questions to the table and shaping the theatre as a space of commons. Read the message of solidarity from ECF’s Director Katherine Watson.

We received more than 800 applications for our first Idea Camp open call. We will select the 50 most viable and innovative ideas to be represented by the successful applicants at the Idea Camp in Marseilles from 23-25 October, co-hosted by Les Têtes de l’Art. We also enjoyed talking to the great number of people who joined our first online Q&A, #askECF, on 9 July. We hope to run more online Q&As like this one in future to get closer to our audiences through our social media channels and ECF Labs.

TANDEM "DIALOGUE FOR CHANGE": OPEN CALL - The new TANDEM programme “Dialogue for Change” is based on our belief that cross-border collaboration supports not only dialogue, but also allows for the development of new forms of civic engagement. We are looking for change agents from Ukraine and the 28 EU member states interested in strengthening their capacities in community development and conflict resolution through the arts. The deadline for application is 15 September 2014 (midnight CET).

TANDEM COMMUNITY & PARTICIPATION: 2ND ROUND OPEN CALL – Together with our partners Fonds voor Cultuurparticipatie, LKCA and MitOst e.V., we are proud to announce the second round of Tandem Community & Participation. This exchange programme supports cultural organisations to set up partnerships with peers across NL, B, D and the UK. Applications open 18 August until 15 October 2014.

SHERIF FARAG FREE – We are relieved by the news that Sherif Farag – Tandem/Shaml participant, academic and activist – has been released from detention in Egypt after being held for 246 days without trial. You can read more about Sherif’s work, the circumstances of the arrest and coverage of his release on our website.

TOWARDS AN INTEGRATED APPROACH TO CULTURAL HERITAGE FOR EUROPE – The European Commission has adopted the policy ‘Towards an integrated approach to cultural heritage for Europe’. This important policy document calls for stronger cooperation at the EU level, which can feed into national heritage policies and governance. The EC Communication is available in all the official EU languages.

                            FROM OUR LIBRARY

Summer is a great time to reflect, review and consider future opportunities. Which is why we sent a special “Summer Reading” issue of our eZine last month, highlighting some of the latest publications we’ve added to our Library. Happy reading!
