5 Year Fixed Term Contract

Remuneration Package: Academic Level B $88,749 to $104,726 p.a.
(comprising Salary $74,994 to $88,556 p.a., 17% Superannuation, and
Leave Loading)

Applications are invited for the position of Research Fellow in Applied
Politics in the Centre for Citizenship and Public Policy. Applicants
should have completed a doctorate in an area relating to Applied
Politics. They should have a teaching, publication and research record
as well as practical experience in the fields of deliberative democracy
and citizen engagement in relation to social learning and public policy.

Research Fellows Level B will undertake research, and scholarly and
professional activities including teaching, related to their field of
expertise. They will participate in the corporate life of the School,
College and University, and undertake administrative responsibilities
associated with their scholarly and teaching activities.

*Roles and Responsibilities*

    * Engage in research, consultancy and professional projects and the
      publication of outcomes of these projects.
    * Attend Research Group, School and/or College meetings and
      undertake membership of a number of committees;
    * Supervise Honours, higher degree research and postgraduate
      students undertaking research projects;
    * Prepare and deliver lectures, tutorials, workshops, and/or online
      sessions;
    * Undertake a range of administrative functions connected to either
      the Research Group or to teaching in the School;
    * Actively participate in the life, enterprise initiatives and
      community service activities of the Research Group;


*Personal Specification*

The broad expectations of the role require the following attributes:

    * A doctoral degree in an area relevant to Applied Politics;
    * An established track record of high quality publications;
    * Demonstrated record of practical experience in the fields of
      deliberative democracy and citizen engagement in relation to
      social learning and public policy;
    * Demonstrated experience in applying for external funding for
      research projects;
    * Experience teaching at a tertiary level, including blended learning;
    * The capacity to develop international links;
    * The capacity to work collaboratively as part of an academic
      research team;
    * Strong oral and interpersonal communication skills and appropriate
      computing skills;
    * An understanding of the principles of anti-discrimination, staff
      and student equity, Occupational Health and Safety and other
      legislation and willingness and capacity to implement Equal
      Opportunity, Affirmative Action and Occupational Health and Safety
      principles.
