Le petizioni via Internet sono tutte bufale! Per lo meno quelle strutturate
con il sistema dell'inoltro. È sufficiente pensarci un attimo... la
diffusione di una mail di questo tipo non è lineare. A ogni forward la
diffusione si ramifica, con il risultato che circolano 20 o 30 messaggi che
riportano le stesse "firme".

Il fenomeno, come è intuibile, ha una crescita esponenziale: al secondo
passaggio i messaggi con le stesse firme sono 400, al terzo 1600... l'unico
risultato che si ottiene è di far circolare un gran numero di indirizzi
e-mail che qualsiasi società può intercettare e usare per ampliare il suo
database al fine di fare spamming o fornire indirizzi "orientati" (chi vuole
lanciare una linea di prodotti BIO può, per esempio, considerare più
"abbordabili" utenti internet sensibili al problema della guerra o del
rispetto dei diritti civili) a chi è disposto a pagare per averli.

Le uniche petizioni affidabili (?) sono quelle che richiedono registrazione
a un sito (vedi emergency). Anche in questo caso, però, gli abusi sono
all'ordine del giorno. Ne sanno qualcosa i girotondini che mi hanno spammato
per settimane grazie a qualche infausta adesione che ho dato in rete...
