I believe that MIDI sound fonts do not qualify as information for
practical use. In a sense, they're just a collection of sounds. The
fact that they're not required to use MIDI and are interchangeable
strongly suggests that their purpose is mostly, if not entirely,
aesthetic rather than practical.

I believe the license allows you to distribute it verbatim as part of a
GNU/Linux distribution, yes.
