I think the FSF guideline would be 'if you could replace them with other stuff,
would the program still "function"?'. For instance, a program is still free
software even if it has trademarked images, because you can replace the images
with anything and the program still runs ok. Same here--you could replace those
noises with other random noises and programs still function fine. They are
basically sound samples (though I have to admit a bit of -ENOCLUE here as well,
as I haven't knowingly used them before!).
