The official "vanilla" Linux kernel from Linus that gets distributed on
kernel.org has non-free[1] software in it; linux-libre is a version of this
kernel with the non-free software removed.

This release is based on Linux 2.6.24.4.

One small change from previous releases is the Makefile is now changed to read:

EXTRAVERSION = .4.0-libre
