Just an intergalactika initiative to mention, about
the question of struggles against precarious jobs and
with the chainworkers everywhere. The french workers
of MacDonald's, who have been in strike for 3 months
and finally won against there manager (STOP LA
PRECARITE), are participating to the caravan against
Taco Bell (who also owns Pizza Hut for example) in the
US, invited by the farmers united against Taco Bell,
whom we met in Porto Alegre. I hope we'll have a
report back on this...
I think it's one of the first cross-initiative
produced by intergalactika. We should continue and
make 2002's MayDay a hundred times like Milano 2001
mayday.

Une info pour signaler que les travailleurs en greve
de Mac Do sont en ce moment sur les routes avec les
copains de la coalition contre Taco Bell aux Etats
Unis, participant a la caravane contre la precarite.
Je crois que c'est l'une des premieres initiatives
directement produite par Intergalactika, issue des
rencontres de Porto alegre. J'espere que nous en
aurons un compte-rendu, et surtout des prolongements,
pour faire du mayday 2002 une initiative importante
sur cette question la, la meme chose qu'a Milan l'anne
derniere, mais demultiplie..

Chère Leyla, dear fellow media/labor activists in Europe and elsewhere,

On a commencé à organiser la MayDay Parade du 1er mai a Milan. Déjà tous
les syndicats de base italiens ont donne leur soutien. Les copines et les
copains de Milano de Bergamo et de Rome sont en train de se partager les
premier taches d'organisation et construction des reseaux. Aujourd'hui a
Barcelone on proteste contre le marche de travail neoliberal reclamise par
Blair/Berlusconi/Aznar et pratique partout. Transformons le 1er mai dans la
journee de mobilitation des precaires europeens. On pourra plus decider sur
notre tete a notre place. Luttons ensemble pour des droits sociaux
europeens universelles a partir des droits de jeunes precaires,
interimaires, stagiares, part-timers, free-lance etc etc
L'annee passee comme tu l'a dit Abdel, Corinne, Jean-Claude e Joselito ont
galvaniser Milan avec leurs experiences dures mais souvent victorieuses de
greve et de conflit contre le grand chaines qui nous etranglent.
C'est super savoir que les grevistes de McDo Saint-Denis vont s'unir aux
farmers+workers united against Taco Bell.
Continuons la discussion sur Intergalaktica pour arriver a un MayDay commun
dans toutes les grandes villes d'Europe.

We have started organizing the second edition of Milano's MayDay Parade.
People in Rome, Bergamo and Milano are starting to lay down networks,
thinking about promotion, logistics, wotever. Italian rank-and-file unions
will all ask their members to participate. The parade will be likely opened
by the cleaners who blocked railway traffic last month all over the
peninsula in protest against outsourcing and subcontracting. Last year
five-thousand people blasted their soundsystems and cried their slogans
galvanized by Parisian chainworkers who had defeated PizzaHut and
McDonald's. Our aim is to build a europlatform of workers' rights starting
with the mobilization of young part-timers, temps, networkers and all other
forms of casual, precarious, contingent jobs with low wages and no benefit.
If we become the future of radical unionism, then neoliberalism has no
future.
We invite everybody to organize their soundtrucks and street actions to
make the afternoon of May 1st in Milano and in other metropolises a
rallying cry against corporate exploiters everywhere starting with WalMart,
Carrefour, Esselunga, Manpower, Adecco, McDonald's, Autogrill and all the
other chainstores and temp agencies that downgrade our labor and our lives.
And if you oppose/hate Berlusconi as much as we do, there's an additional
reason to come to Milano, his testing-ground and personal fiefdom.
